| Diarrhea/Vomiting After Neuter Wally got neutered yesterday. I picked him up at 4pm and he was doing fine - just a little lethargic. They said that a few side effects from the anesthesia and pain meds that they injected were vomiting and diarrhea. He did fine last night, and though he had a little looser stool than normal, everything seemed to be going just fine. This morning he had his normal amount of energy and seemed to be back to his old self. I came home from work this evening and he had a diarrhea explosion in his kennel while I was gone. He had also thrown up. I got him and everything else cleaned up, but I'm a little worried. I know they said to expect this for 24 - 48 hours, but he has NEVER had a single #2 accident in his kennel - not even when he was a little pup. Did anyone else experience this after neuter or spay surgery? At what point do I need to be concerned? Like I said, he is acting totally normal except for this setback today. Thanks!

| Is he being given Medacam for pain? This medicine makes my little one very ill. If he is still ill in the morning I would call the vet. The med that my vet gave us was Amforal (sp?). One dose and then I was praying for poop for 12 hrs. I fed her only chic n rice for a couple of days as well. Make sure that your baby drinks water, dehydration can cause other problems. Im sorry that your little one isn't 100%. There are others on the forum that hve more experience than I do. Maybe someone else will have some advice too. |

| My Belle was pretty sick after her spay. She couldn't keep anything down. I called my vet and he first suggested boiled chicken and rice, but that didn't stay down. I picked up a few cans of I/D from him, that came up, too. So we ended up at his office the next morning and he gave her and injection to stop the vomiting and sent us home with pepcid and sucralose. After the injection she didn't throw up again. (she didn't have any diarrhea, just the vomiting) Its not normal for them to get so sick after surgery. Please call your vet asap. Hope your little guy gets better soon.
