| Very concerned with puppy My yorkie puppy is acting very very odd. He stopped being active and looks like he is high. He is squinting his eyes, looks woozy and is yawning a lot. He did this once before and by the time we got to the emergency hospital he snapped out of it. They tought maybe he hurt something playing. He wants to go to sleep but i wont let him. He also keeps sticking his nose up in the air. Is he having mini seizures? I am waiting to see if he snaps out of this one too. I don't know what to do!! |

| Keep a log of these episodes:dates, times, details of behavior. Videotape if you can to show your vet. Has your pup had any recent bloodwork done? That would be a good place to start.

| What do you mean by woozy? These sound like neurological symptoms. You said he went to the vet last time, so did they do bloodwork (pretty standard if a dog shows up at the ER and has just come out of neuro symptoms)? Was it all clear? Did the vet talk about the need for a neurologist? I'm concerned that this is neurological. It doesn't sound like a seizure, but if it is and they stringing together, the prognosis isn't as good without getting immediate help. I really think this pup needs some extensive testing to rule some things out. And if he hasn't come out of it by now or is just in this state, then the only answer is to go to the ER. If you think it is safe to wait til Monday with this going on (I don't think it's a good idea), then your pup needs to be seen as soon as they open. This isn't normal, and now that it has happened twice, there is reason for concern.

| I called the emergency vet clinic and they believe it sounds like a mini seizure. He had his last episode 7/2 at almost this exact time. He is 8 months old. She made it sound like there is nothing they can do for him just wait for it to stop. Im not sure if he has had any blood work done unless they ran some hen he was neutered a few months ago. I just want it to stop! I will definately call the vet monday if I don't go to emergency clinic soon. |

| This lasted for over an hour? Particularly if it happens again or has not stopped, your puppy should just go straight to the ER of the nearest specialty hospital. It sounds as if the ER vet is not interested in figuring this out. If the regular vet can't figure it out, thn your puppy has to see a specialist. If it happens again before Monday, puppy needs to go to a specialty hospital ER. This could end up being next to nothing or it could end up being extremely life threatening, esp. if left untreated. If seizures start to happen one after another without an attempt at controlling them, it can be very hard for the body to pull out of it even with drugs.

| Please record everything Maximo said, including the length of the episode. Please record it on video as well. It's important for you to have something to show your vet so that they can help your pup. Seizures are no fun. Grand maul seizures are the worst. My dad has them. My dad can verbalize how painful they can be, your pup can not.

| I was looking more into the dates and the times of these episodes and on both mornings I gave him his Trifexis pill (heartworm/flea pill) and within 6-8 hours he had an episode. I read the fine writing online on their website and they had 1 dog have a mild seizure after taking it and they kept giving them to him and he was fine. I firmly believe this was caused by his pill. He will no longer be getting them and I feel really bad it took me this long to put two and two together! I will give seperate heartworm and flea stuff on different dates to make sure this doesn't happen again. I have no idea what in the pill caused this. I still have to call the vet tomorrow and discuss with them and then calling the maker to let them so so they are aware this is issue with their product! Thanks everyone for all the words of advice and the concern i greatly appreciate it. I will just be happy if this is truly what caused his episodes and I can fix it. |
