| My Dear Charlie~ I have been MIA and wanted to visit here again this time needing advice and wisdom regarding a major surgery my Charlie went thru Thursday at midnight...He jumped off the ottoman on Wednesday so excited to see me and hurt his back, we did the 1/2 of an 81mg aspirin per call to vet but he was not getting better, he ended up having surgery for a ruptured disk and is doing better than they expected, he is having pain sensation in hind legs which is good and ahead of schedule but I have to say the local vet gave me a grim prognosis, I am so glad we went to the UW Veterinary Teaching Hospital, I truly believe they saved his life...Has anyone else had this happen to their furbaby?

| I'm sorry. Yes, a few YTers have dealt with this. You can search for the thread by Linz06 about Layla. My girl most likely has/had IVDD, but she never paralyzed and has not required surgery.

| Thank You~ It was absolutley the crapiest day of my life this far, Thank God for my daughter and her ability to get Care Credit as this will be near $4-$6000 and it would have been awful to make a decision based on money she truly is Charlie's Angel!

| Here you go: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...out-layla.html Ellie's back injury is probably what sealed the deal about me getting pet insurance for my next dog. It was a horrible thought thinking she could need surgery and there is just no way that I have about $7K available for something like that.

| I Have a Plan~ I am opening a savings account at the bank my sister works at and taking donations to give to the UW Vet Hospital for people who may not have family like I did, and I too am taking out Pet Insurance! I will post the information when the account is up and running and I would hope that everyone would find it in their heart to donate even $1 as it can all make a difference...I plan on trying to keep this going and adding funds and working something out w/ the hospital on how to handle the distribution of funds, it can be a nice gift too to donate money in honor or memory of a furbaby versus buying gifts at holidays or special occassions...I would welcome any help on ideas others may have...

| Prayers for a Full recovery for your little one. I would like to add that Accupuncture can help speed recovery & is very good in helping heal nerve damage. You can read about it here in the YT Library. |
