Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Poppy is not well :( Poppy was playing in the garden with a frog last night, she didn't get the frog in her mouth but she may have licked it. This morning around 9am she started to vomit, between 9am and 10.30am she vomitted around 6 times. It was all yellow bile. I called the vet and told him about the frog and the vomitting, he said frogs are not toxic to dogs but if she keeps on vomitting to bring her in. Since I called the vet she has not vomitted once, she has had a little bit to drink but no food (it is now 14:06pm). She is very sleepy and dosn't seem herself at all, do you think I should take her down to the vets even though she has not vomitted again? Or is there anything else I can do to make her less nauseous? Thank you!

| Honestly, I would take her in to be seen if it were me. Especially since she does not seem like her normal self. As far as how to stop the vomiting, I am not sure what you could do except not give her food right now which you apparently are doing. It is good she is drinking. Keep an eye on her for dehydration. Keep us updated!

| I would take her to the vet. That was a lot of vomiting in a short period of time, plus w the sleepiness (lethargy). These little ones can go downhill quickly. I would rather be safe than sorry.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I have called the vet again and she has just vomitted again, he said the quickest he can see her is at about 5pm which is 2 hours from now... I'm thinking of taking her down to the emergency vet even though it is furthur away. Do you think I should take her to the emergency now or wait till the smaller vets is open? I don't want to have her in the car for too long if she has an upset stomach.

I never wait which drives my husband crazy. Since she vomited again, I would go to the emergency vet. Your vet won't work you in? Did they know she has vomited 7 times and is acting lethargic? I wouldn't wait. I think she needs to be seen now.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | About 10 minutes in the car, the emergency is about 20-30 minutes in the car. I know it's not that much difference but I don't want her to feel any worse and she does get car sick sometimes so chances are she will vomit.

| Poor Poppy! There are frogs that indeed ARE poisonous to dogs, although I'm not sure what species you have in the UK. A YT'er in Florida, whose name I can't recall created a couple of threads about the deadly Bufo frog. After doing my own research I found this to be absolutely true.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Hi everyone, I'm back from the vets. They wern't exactly sure what is wrong with her, but they don't think it is because of the frog. They think she may have eaten something in the garden which has given her an upset tummy, or that she may have a blockage. They said she is slightly dehydrated but not dangerously so, they have given me a little syringe to give her water with if she won't drink herself. They don't want me to feed her until tomorrow, only water, and would like to see her back in the morning. She has just had a big drink of water and kept it down, and is now sleeping next to me. So fingers crossed she is feeling better soon, and I will update you once I have been back to the vets tomorrow. Thanks for your concern!
