Yorkie Yakker | Reaction to promeris, please advise I gave my 2.8lb yorkie promeris last nite and I think she had a reaction from it. Shes been taking it a while and this is first time shes experienced this. She got real weak and congestion or wheezing and coughing. Took her to er, her blood sugar was 300, heartrate 84, took xray of chest. Her heart is a little enlarged. Her reg vet said watch her close and he wants to recheck her blood sugar in a wk or 2. Has anyone experienced this in their dog whos under 5lbs? Im scared to give her any flea meds now. And vet said shes too little to take comfortis. Any advice??? |

| I havent used Promeris. I've used frontline for 11 years now on my three dogs including my epileptic dog without a problem. I use half doses and started them on it as puppies around 3 lbs. Did the ER vet say the promeris was related to the illness?

| ProMeris is being pulled over safety concerns. What is being sold now is probably the end of what was made. Is the vet sure that is what caused this though?

Yorkie Yakker | No, er vet wasnt sure about promeris. Thats only thing it couldve been she said, unless she got into something. And I hardly let her down cause she so tiny. Reg vet is concerned about blood sugar but promeris may have caused that as well. I may switch to frontline but still afraid to give her anything. |

| I save half a tube by drawing it up into a needleless syringe and cap it off for use the following month. My vet is ok with me doing 1/2 doses of frontline on our dogs but anyone else should of course check with their own vet on usage.
