Yorkie Yakker | Bloody Stool, vomitin and high fever My lil Jakeroo (Jake) had to be taken to the emergency vet last night. He had bloody stool (diarrhea), vomiting and a high fever ALL morning. I took him about an hour and 1/2 away to the vet, they kept him over night and gave him fluids and medicine. His temp was 104.3, which is high for a dog. I think they said he has gastroentertitis. I don't give him scraps, so I have no idea what he could've gotten into. He is at his regular vet now to get more fluids and meds overnight. I miss him so bad. He is sooooo spoiled, so hopefully, he's not too scared. Has anyone experienced this problem in their yorkie? |

| I have no advice but will say a prayer for your little one. Seeking vet care is the best thing you could have done and I am so glad you were so proactive. Please keep us updated on Jake's progress. |

| I'm sorry to hear about Jake and I hope he is on the road to improvement with your prompt attention of getting him to the vet. I have not experienced gastroenteritis but I have been twice through pancreatitis with my dog and it's very similar and not fun. It's very nerve wracking when your baby is at the vet on IV fluids. But, it's best for him. I hope he is home with you soon.

Yorkie Yakker | Thank you so much. Yea, I'm always scared when my babies are sick. I miss him so much, but I know it's best for him to stay. I am picking him up first thing in the morning. He will still have to continue with meds at home for a few days, as well. I'm thinking it's viral or bacteria. I googled gastroenteritis. Because, I don't feed him scraps and didn't see him eat anything unusual. Thank you for your support. |

| My girl was diagnosed with HGE about a month ago. Same type symptoms and come to found out, yorkies are one of the breeds it is more common in. Just google HGE (Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis ) in dogs and you will see lots of info. Basically it's a virus and they don't know how they get it. I had never heard of it until it happened to us. Treating it quick is the key. Ginger is back 100% - no more issues. Sounds like you got your baby in early too! Hope he is feeling better!!!!!

| Prayers for Jake. I have had pups with gastroenteritis and also pancreatitis. The IV fluids are very important. He is in the right place! I am sure he will be back home soon! Usually about 3 days is what it takes to snap them out of it.

| Aww I'm sorry to hear your baby is sick. I'm glad you got him into the vet's ASAP. It sounds like he's over the hump with his fever being gone. 101 is a normal temp for a dog. Good luck! Sending you well wishes.
