| its not hydrocephalus it is Atlantoaxial subluxation well back to canada west vets Dr nick sharp was our dr and he redid all for his blood and bile tests again and they are all good he then went over all his symtoms and decide that he wanted to do exrays of his neck as he thought that something wasnt right and he is right the exrays show the bones not formed right so he now has a splint on for 2 weeks and then we go back and see if it has helped .he is not to have splint off and complete cage rest ,that is easy with him right now as he can not walk very well he said that it should get better so only up to eat, potty and a lot of quiet cuddle time .im relieved but we are not out of the woods yet .he looks so sad i feel so bad for him .wondering if anyone else has had this problem . | I am sorry that you received the AAI diagnosis. There have been other members that have also had puppies with AAI and I am sure they will be along shortly. Have you contacted the breeder? This is a genetic issue and the breeder should be alerted. Do you have a health guarantee?

| Yes, there are some YT members who have dealt with this condition. Many of them are on a Yahoo group and I am sure they will help you with lots of information. One thing I suggest is a consult with a specialist if the vet you are using is not one. I am sorry that you are having to deal with this. One bright side is that it can be repaired. I agree with megansmomma...you need to contact the breeder. Hopefully he/she can help with the costs associated.

| Ooops!~I just went back to look at your previous post and you are the breeder. I'm glad that you had your little girl spayed after this litter since as I said previously AAI is a genetic issue. What happened to the rest of the puppies in the litter? Are you in contact with their owners? They need to be alerted to what is happening so that their puppies can be properly evaluated for AAI as well. I'm sorry

| So sorry to hear this diagnosis... Hydrocephalus is a symptom of AAI and other diseases/disorders, basically means 'water on the brain' but is caused by excess Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) accumulating in the brain and causing neurological symptoms. Here is a link to some other members whose pups had/have this: AAI - Google Search

| There are a few of us here that have AAI babies, we have a support group on Yahoo.com I will get you an invite to help you through this time. Please know there is hope! We are here for you. My Shelby has AAI she is post surgery, also with hydrocephalus, and cardiomegaly, and enlarged esophagus. At this time she is pain free. I am Anne, also there is Val, Vicki, Jamie, Sherryl &lynne, we have a few new members. I'll get into the site and get you an invite. Please keep your little one restricted crate, playpen, treat like a "CHINA DOLL", very fragile at this time. anne
