| Mucous/bloody stool Levi's stool has me concerned! This morning, there was mucous with a hint of blood near the end of his stool. Stool wasn't watery or bigger than normal. He hasn't been vomiting or acting strange at all. He is been eating and drinking normally, and is up playing now. I've already called the vet, who assured me that since he wasn't vomiting or acting odd, I do not need to take him in for emergency care. She said the main concern is the bit of blood in the stool, and suggested I make an appointment to take him in. Appointment is tomorrow morning at 11 AM - the first available appointment I could get! Someone will be with Levi constantly until his appointment. My brother will here be with him until 2pm, and then I am going home to watch him like a hawk until tomorrow morning. We will call the vet/take him in for emergency care if he begins vomiting, has more blood in his stools, or acts out of character. Levi is acting like it's no big deal, but his mommy is worried! I love that little guy so much! Any clue as to what this might be? The vet listed some possibilities, but said she wouldn't know anything until she actually examined him.

| I can hear your mommy anxiety in your post - I feel for you. It's worrisome when your little one can't tell you how they are feeling and then you have something not quite normal happen. Will keep your little one in our prayers. I would call the vet if he quits eating, starts vomiting or gets lethargic. Please keep in touch. |

Yes, the possibilities are many, giardia...stress, eteritis.....But, I'm surprised that the vet wouldn't see him today....the bloody diarreah should be treated ASAP.

| If it happens again, then I'd be insisting that he be seen today. A small amount of blood once though is really not a reason to panic. I would probably also do chicken and rice. Also, if he does start vomiting, his gums are anything but pink, or if he is straining to poop, then those are also reasons to be seen quickly.

| It was just a tiny amount of blood, mostly mucous. If anything out of the ordinary happens (vomiting, another strange stool, etc.), he is definitely going to the vet ASAP. His normal vet is a 24-hour emergency clinic and would already have all of his records on file. Vet appointment is not today because she said it wasn't an "emergency" yet and the first appointment I could schedule was for tomorrow morning. Good to know about the kibble. He is fed on a schedule and has already eaten this morning - so he will have chicken and rice in place of kibble tonight. Any guidelines as to how much I should give him? He is three years old and weighs 5.5 pounds. Thanks for all of your guidance. I feel so worried, but he is running around being his normal crazy self. My brother will be watching him until 2pm, and he is well-instructed about what to do in case of emergency.

| Good! Glad to hear! Prayers that the little peanut does good at his check up tomorrow! Also, my Cairn once had a little bit of blood in her stool, she only had it once. Well, in her stool sample that we brought in, there was a piece of rawhide that she hadn't chewed that well and I guess cut her bum a little bit when she pooped it out. So, it could be something serious or nothing at all. As long as he's acting like his normal Levi self! P.s. I love that name, lol it's my DH's best friend's name and he was the best man in out wedding!

| Update: Vet visit went well today. His stools have been perfectly normal since the odd one yesterday morning. We'll keep an eye on it, but he seems perfectly fine and healthy, thank goodness!
