| I would get a second opinion from a canine opthamologist before I would do any surgery. Especially if the vet is talking about removing an eye.

Is this your vet, someone you know, saying this? Or is it the groomer's vet?

| Contact the University of Missouri University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine see if the can help you. I also found this University of Missouri - Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Please contact them first Specialty Services - Ophthamology The Veterinary Ophthalmology Service of the University of Missouri VMTH offers referral services to practicing veterinarians in Missouri and surrounding states. Complete veterinary ophthalmology diagnostic, medical, and surgical services are provided for companion animal, food animal, and equine species. Please postpone the surgery unless the vet is a specialist in Ophthamology.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I agree with the others, you really need the advice of a specialist on this. Many vets aren't trained in the latest advances, they have a good overall knowledge, but for something this important I recommend that you see a specialist. Just tell your vet you would like to pospone the surgery. Let me add, my prayers are with you.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've been doing a little reading on it, and from what I've read, time may be an important factor. Is the doctor sure it's cancersous? Removal of the eye is suggested as a way to stop the cancer before it spreads.

As Nancy indicated, time may be a critical factor. Please see a specialist right away to find out whether or not the eye can be saved, and to make sure the right treatment is chosen. Sending you and your baby good wishes.
