| New Yorkie Owner I posted this on another thread and I got the advice to come here. I have adopted a 6 year old Yorkie, Oliver, who was in a puppy mill for 5 years. He is so sweet and adjusting well... however his paws are very infected from being a crate for so long. I just took him to get groomed and she said the infection was up his legs. He is constantly licking his paws. The vet gave me an antiseptic lotion to put on him (which is so difficult to give... he cries so much) and it isn't working very well. I want Oliver to have the best life ever. He has suffered enough. Any advice for my new baby? |

| I want to thank you for adopting Oliver and giving him a loving and cared for life. Bless you for sharing your heart and home with him. Can you call the vet and ask for an antibiotic pill for Oliver. Maybe that would work better than the lotion. Poor baby. Give him a great big hug from me and Sammy. |

| You are wonderful for giving this boy a loving and caring home. An infection sounds like something that needs more than an antiseptic lotion. Sounds like he needs something for discomfort too. Can you describe what it looks like or post a picture? Poor baby.

| An infection can be so serious. I would have another vet check him out if this one doesn't seem to be helping. Poor little guy needs more than just lotion I would think. You are wonderful for giving him a new home and the love he so much deserves. Hope you can get the help he needs and he feels better soon. |

| Thank you so much for the responses. He is such an sweet boy and I just want what is best for him. I am going to call the vet on Monday and if he doesn't have any other option I will take him somewhere else. Rescuing Oliver was the best thing I have ever done. I can't imagine what he has been through. Once I learn this site more I will be sure to post pictures. Thank you again for any advice you can give me. |

| I was also going to suggest that little Oliver may need antiobotics to treat his feet and legs. Swelling up his legs sounds like a serious infection. You are wise to take him back to the vet or seek another opinion. God bless you for rescueing this little one ... he is adorable.

| Oliver is so lucky to have found you. I think the idea of seeing if the vet could give him him an oral antibiotic as well, might be the way to go. Treat from both the inside and out. |
