| Yoekie with a goopy eye? A couple days ago my son and I noticed that Suzi had something wrong with ther eye. I looked at her eye , cleaned it and it was better. However, lIfting her eye I saw that it was very red . The next time her eye got bad again, and she could barely open it. I again cleaned her eye, and carefully trimmed the hair around her eye thinking maybe it was irritated . I used clear eyes on her, and a warm cloth. Her eye seemed to have cleared up better the second time, however , I am not sure if she is ok. I did see a little goop around her eye so i cleaned that out. It almost looks like a child who has conjunctiveites, sorry about the spelling. Has anyone ever had a yorkie get this ? I am plannning on taking her to the vet for this. But any opinions would be helpful.

| Yes, Ellie has had conjunctivitis. Any eye issues should be addressed immediately because things go bad very, very quickly. Hope you can get in today..

| I havent had that with yorkies but did have with a cat and I needed to put an antibiotic eye ointment in her eye from the vet to get it to clear up.

| Could be conjunctivitis, or it could be a corneal ulcer. Both require *immediate* attention from a vet. Both conditions are very painful and could result in loss of vision or loss of the eye. Antibiotics and pain meds should be given. Products like Clear Eyes can worsen the problem. Use plain sterile saline. Max had an ulcer: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...er-maximo.html

| OK thank you. If it is conjunctivits, is this contagious to the rest of my dogs?

| Depends on the root cause of the conjunctivitis. If it is viral, yes.

| Hope Suzi feels better. Conjunctivitis in humans is contagious (I think it's also called pink eye), so I would imagine it could be contagious among doggies. |

| We dealt with what we "thought" was conjuctivits, turned out it was something much more serious. Your baby needs to see a vet immediatly for a thorough eye exam. Keep us update and I will pray it is nothing serious. |

| Some eye problems like this can also be related to a underlying health issue, some very serious. The dog needs to see a vet right away.

| Suzi is going to the vet asap. Her eye is not like this for the past two days, it has been clear. But, she still needs to go just to make sure everything is allright. thanks.

| I think that is a good call. We are getting ready to have a surgery on Maddie's eye over an eye problem that came and went. Did you get to see the vet today? Please keep us updated. |

| Oh no! I am sorry to hear this. Post a thread at some point so that we can all learn from your experience and so we can wish Maddie well. She will be in my thoughts.
