Ringworm So I believe Mya has a ringworm I just noticed it about an hour ago. I have her quarantined in her play pen. She is crying and although I feel soo bad, I know I cant let her out I am aware that it is contagious. I am going to take her to the Vet in about 2 hours. Hopefully I am wrong and its not a ring worm. I heard Lotrimin is suppose to work well for both humans and pets? Has anyone had success with it? I just wanted any advice that you guys could give me. I would greatly appreciate it. Anything from home remedies, your personal experience, how to clean the house, pretty much anything that could help out. Thank you.

| Well, thankfully it's not really a worm. It's a fungus. Usually an oral antifungal is given for several weeks if this is the diagnosis. If your vet is unsure they may scrape and get some hair and culture it.

The Vet will usually prescribe it for 6-8 wks, and then they'll grow out another culture to confirm it's gone. Just to reassure you a little...Marcel caught ringworm from his old vet, and we didn't confine him...none of us (humans or fur babies) caught it. It's probably best to confine, but I just couldn't deal with it.

We had it. Search for my threads on it. Cried alot and used a LOT of bleach. I did use human antifungals on my girls, but I think they licked it and got sick. If it were me, I wouldn't use it again unless I can totally cover so they don't get to it! I didn't find any home remedies that worked. I used what the vet and pharmacist gave us$$$$$$$$$ Good luck and we're crossing our fingers you don't have it!

Update Thank you guys for the comments, I really appreciate it. I took her to the vet on Sunday, the 13th. The culture is suppose to take up to 3 weeks so I am anxiously awaiting the results. As of now she is prescribed two medicines, one that is put on the area and the other is oral. She Loves the oral medicine! Shes very active and to her nothing is with her so thats exactly how I treat her. I cant confine her, its unbearable. Especially for 3 weeks!! I wouldnt be able to not give her hugs It seems to be getting better, but only the test result will tell. Hopefully its something that scratched her, as long as its not ringworm I will keep you guys updated! Thanks again

Final update Hello Everyone ! I am so happy to tell you all that she doesnt have Ringworm ! Although they didnt tell me what it was exactly it was, it showed negative for Ringworm. I am going in for a follow up tomorrow. The spot that was on her tummy area has been gone for about a week and a half already. I still continue to put the medicine that I rub on it because I know there is a chance it could return. I stopped the oral medicine about a week ago because she started to vomit. After I stopped the oral medicine, she hasn't had another episode of vomiting. She is doing great and I would like to thank you all for your advice !
