Donating YT 30K Club Member | Nikki may have Protein losing nephropathy I took Nikki to the vet today because he vomited and had diarrhea once on Tuesday night (couldn't get in yesterday due to being totally snowed in). He also has a strange odor about him some times for a day or two. I wanted to get him checked out anyway. My vet did a thorough exam in him and here's the results. He is blind in his right eye, Bun is a little elevated , Creatinine is high normaal, lungs and heart sounded good. He is concentrating his urine but has protein in it. They are running a Urine Protein Creatinine Ratio test to check to see if he has PLN. She said he is has chronic renal disease. If he has PLN he will need to go on KD food and a blood pressure medicine. So please keep Nikki in your prayers. Also if you have any experience with PLN I would appreciate any input. Thanks

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Update! Nikki does not have Protein losing nephrology. The vet just called and said his test did not show PLN. I am so happy about that. She does want him to go on KD food for his renal disease.

| I am sorry about your little Nikki and hope that the RX food will help him. I have had renal pups in the past and the diet was the one thing that really did help them live longer lives. One thing I will suggest: If you find that Nikki has a problem with eating the K/D, you might want to try the Purina NF. I have found that some pups find it more appetizing.

| Yes, the vets carry it. I had two pups with renal disease and neither of them liked the KD. I personally thought it smelled awful, too.
