What happens if he keeps licking it. I will be gone tonight for a few hours, what do I do so he wont lick himself when I am at work. Astro is already back to normal and Cosmo isn't he will get up and walk then hurry up and sit back down, poor guy. Any suggestions on how to make him feel better?

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Well, there are those E collars, i believe they're called. They keep them from licking their wounds. Petco usually has some!

I've seen them at Petsmart. I would have thought that the vet would have given you one.

| Staci, Call Laura. If he had internal stitches like Kacee, she told me it is OK for her to lick it - that she will take care of it. And that is what happened.

| Oh! She also said it would be OK to give her a baby aspirin, but it was never necessary.

| I called my vet about Logan licking his incision after surgery and she said that it wasn't a big deal. The stitches are internal so he can't pull them out and there isn't a problem with infection. She did however tell me the antibacterial spray they put on after might upset his tummy so if I see him doing it I should just say no. After a day or two he didn't bother it anymore. I would just try that. Or call your vet and see what they recommend. With internal stitches and glue they don't use E collars much anymore.

| His stitches are internal and she doesn't need an e-collar.

| My vet gave us a cream that tastes bad and keeps them from licking there you might ask your vet if he has that.

| Just make one! Cut a circle out of cardboard - pretty wide - the a circle out of the middle for his neck, slice into the middle - put it on him and tape it! Duct tape is wonderful! The idea is to put something between his head and body so he can't get to the stitches. Doesn't have to be perfect - just has to work. Check for them online and you'll see what they look like and just go for it. I've made them for puppies and dogs.
