| Limping for two days now Hi, My 7 year old Jasper, and probably a little bit overweight is not really limping but holds his right hind leg up when he does move. Do not know how it happened, DH wants to wait another day or so as he had the same problem with the other leg and was fine in a day or two, I really feel bad for the little guy, suggestions? Thanks in advance Pamela |

| Poor Jasper! Did he jump off the couch or bed? Is there anyway he could have pulled a muscle? Mine was running in the livingroom a few weeks ago and stopped and held up his front leg. I massaged his leg and then after about 5 minutes he walked on it. Try to massage the leg and see if that helps. |

| Jaspers bum leg Have no idea how he hurt it, been rubbing it off and on, since it happened. Will keep up the gentle rubbing, with high hopes. Thanks Pamela |

| I would take him to the vet and ask him to check both legs to see if he might have LP.

| Oh, dear My yorkie, Bear, was limping as well and doing the same thing Jasper was doing. We took him to the vet, and we found out he had been born with hip problems, and could not use his leg because his hip was jointed wrong...he had to get surgery done, and he still limps at many points. Take him to the vet would be my advice!

| I too would advise you to take him to the vet. It could be something as simple as a little pulled muscle or it could be something else. At least you'll have an idea of how to help Jasper.

| Jaspers's bum leg This morning his other back leg went out on him. I called the vet as soon as they opened at brought him in. He tested positive for Lyme Disease. His hips were fine. He is on medication for the next 28 days. The Vet said that I should see an improvement in a couple of day. Thanks to you all, Pamela |

| I'm sorry about the diagnosis, but I'm glad you got him to the vet. I'm one of those that doesn't like to wait.

| I just went through this with my littlest yorkie. I recommend taking them to the vet. Although I had to take her in twice and get xrays all to find nothing wrong bone-wise, I am still glad I took her in. Just in case there was a cracked bone, LP or something that needed immediate attention. Hers was evidently a soft tissue injury -- she limped (or as you describe help one foot up) for a week! I was pretty worried but she came out of it fine. Still better to kow for sure. If something were to be broken, then delaying vet attention could mean a bad healing.

Jackson had Lymes back in January and came up limping randomly. It was gone within 6 hours of being on antibiotics and pain meds. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...e-disease.html Glad you got a diagnosis.
