| Concerned... This morning I was sitting at the computer and Gambit was laying in his bed beside me quietly. I thought nothing of it until a few hours later when I looked down and realized he had chewed the end of my laptop charger off! (Thank God it wasn't plugged in at the time...) He's been acting fine, minus sulking around because I gave him a good talking to, but I can't find the chewed off end anywhere and I'm scared he might have chewed it up completely and eaten it! We've never had a problem with him chewing on cords or wires so I don't know what got into him! I called my vet and he said that it would most likely be fine but if he hadn't passed it by next Friday I should bring him in. That's a long time to wait and I'm worried about thiose little sharp wires being in his tummy!! Has anyone else had this problem? Did they just pass the object or should I be very concerned? I'm trying to trust my vet but I'm still really worried!

| I have had pups eat some mighty strange things. Never wires, though. I guess if you are really that worried, you might want to take him in and have them Xray him. That way at least you could find out for sure!

| Do you mean the large end that goes into the wall? Or the smaller end that plugs into the laptop? The smaller end could probably pass through a full size yorkie, but but I don't know about the plug-in-to-the-wall end -- seems too large to me! The vet says if he doesn't pass it by NEXT Friday bring him in? That seems much to long. I think I would be inclined to request an xray at 2 day mark. EDIT: I did go check just to make sure and found this reference: "In all, the entire process, from the time a dog bites into his food to the time waste is produced, can take anywhere from around 10 hours to a couple of days. " This is from this site: http://www.ehow.com/how-does_5162842...gest-food.html Obviously something like plastic and wire may stick around in the small intestine longer than usual but I think 2 days would still be my cutoff for wanting the xray done.

| A Little Relief! It was the samll end that plugs in and as soon as I finished typing, I thought "Wait, I didn't check his 'treasure cove' (as we call his corner of our sectional)" and there it was, it was pretty badly chewed but at least he didn't eat the whole thing! I was poking at the wires and they don't feel as hard as I thought they were so maybe, if he did swallow some of those little wires, they won't be a problem. Sorry, I panic really easily when it comes to my baby! I'm just glad my hubby wasn't home to laugh at me as I raced around the house near tears, tearing the cushions off the couch and yanking the rug up before moving the desk around trying to find any sign of that silly plug!

| Glad you found it! I had a pup chew my laptop power cord one day while it was plugged in! I never figured out how she survived it without even so much as a burn. Scared the heck out of me.

LMAO here! What a cute pic! cr4z135-----I'm so glad you found the plug in his stash. Pretty scary when something like this happens. I also found myself racing around the house once crying and screaming, trying to find something I thought she had eaten. Betty Boop just looked at me like I was crazy! (And so did my dh). Yeah, he was home.

| Let me tell you my Basset Hounds chewed so many wires I'm surprised they're still around. They chewed the heater wire while it was plugged in, they chewed the air conditioner wire, the plug on my friend's jukebox, and a whole bunch in insillation from the shed. I'm still pulling things out of their mouth. It never ends. |
