| Zach's Bloody Nose Early this morning Zach tried to climb out of his playpen, well actually he fell out of his playpen and he ended up with a bloody nose. I never thought a dog would land on it's nose but Zach did. Well there was so much blood coming out of his nose I couldn't stop it. I put ice on it and he screamed. We rushed him to emergency and the vet took xrays and said there was nothing broken except maybe a blood vessel so he cortarized it and he sent him home with some meds for the pain. Now all he want to do is be held and he keeps crying. He also said he never heard of a dog falling on his nose but he said anything can happen. Anybody ever hear of a dog getting a bloody nose from falling on it? |

| Poor Zach! I bet that hurt. I've never had one get a bloody nose, but I'm sending prayers that Zach feels all better soon. Bonny

| Thanks Bonny he's sitting next to me and pulling on his nose with his paw. It must really been bothering him. The vet said try not letting him pull at his nose but that's easier said then done. He said if it keeps bleeding to bring him back and he will have to put a collar on him so I'm praying he doesn't damage his nose anymore. Last edited by lexi43; 10-21-2010 at 07:37 AM. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I know it hurts terribly for a human to have a vessel in the nose cauterized -- imagine it would be equally bad in a dog. Hope little Zach is feeling better soon. Please keep us posted. I know I started working on a replacement for/modification to Tallulah's playpens last night -- after reading about your experience I will NOT put her in a playpen again until I'm sure it's secured against her climbing out. |

| Bless his little heart! That had to hurt so much. I know it scared you terribly, too! I hope he's feeling a little better by tonight.

| Thanks everybody for their well wishes. Zach is doing fine now. He's still swiping at his nose but so far no more blood. I let him sleep in my bed last night and he was thrilled because this never happens. He thought he was a real big shot because he got to sleep with his sister Zoe and my three cats. I never thought he would be able to climb out of his pen. His sister Zoe (a shorkie) is twice his size and she can't even jump out of the pen. |
