| Constipation I have a 16 month old female Yorkie who is constipated - she hasn't gone in over 24 hours. I've taken her on 2 long walks today, gave her 2 tbsp of canned pumpkin at 9:15pm (about 3 hours ago), and washed her with a warm cloth. How long can she go without it being an emergency. She is my baby, and I am a worrier. She is acting ok, drinking ok, peeing ok, eating ok, but no poop. Thanks in advance! |

| Try giving him canned pumpkin. Make sure it's just pumpkin, not the pie filling. It worked for our dog when he was constipated. |

| If the canned pumpkin doesn't work by Monday I would take her to the vet. Maddie went a few days without pooping once and I found out she had swallowed some wood pieces off the fireplace hearth and she had a blockage. I didn't even know where she would have gotten it but found a chewed up piece under her bed later. The vet took a stool sample and it looked like mulch. I am usually one to err on the side of caution. Keep us updated on her. Last edited by MaddiesMommie; 10-10-2010 at 02:19 PM. |

| I've also used green beans added to their food to help them have a bowel movement. If her tummy looks bloated or her gums look pale to white, I'd get her to a vet asap.
