AFTER spay surgery question Hi! Maya (11 months) was spayed three weeks ago and I noticed that her belly is a bit bigger in the past few days. She doesnt show any signs of discomfort or pain, but is it normal? Also I noticed that she is a bit more aggressive towards her toys I heard dogs change after being spayed - has anyone experienced anyof these two symptoms Thanks

Hi. I am new to the group. I worked as a Vet Asst. for 10 yrs. and I don't think it is normal for there to be swelling after 3 weeks. Is the swelling at the incision site or her whole belly? I have 3 spayed dogs and none of them showed any personality change after being spayed. I would consider having her vet check her out just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps.

The belly in general is bigger as if she gained weight... I will take her to the vet to check this out for sure! | |

I agree that it doesn't sound normal. Tia was spayed three weeks ago and she looks fine.

Doesn't sound normal to me. You should take her in right away. Aggression in any way could mean she is in pain. Please keep us updated.

If she has a fluid build up for some reason, she would not seem in pain at all. It does sound like she should be seen by your Vet. How much bigger is her belly compared to normal?

My little Princess was spayed 3 weeks ago, tomorrow. Her belly is not swollen. If there is ever a concern, best to take them to the vet for a check up. Atleast that is what I do.
