| 10 week old sick Yorkie =( I purchased my puppy yesterday 9/23/2010. & on the car ride home he three up on me just as we were about to get out of the car. I figured that was from the bumpy car ride. He didn't want to eat all yesterday he was picking at his food which I left around for him. I fed him his vitamins which were given to me from the pet store. I gave him his nutrical as I was told to. He barely plays with the toys that I purchased for him. He sleeps 85% of the day or he just lays around looking sad. I drank a fair a mount of water not too much. Yesterday he drooled about 3 times. Today he didn't stool at all buy he has urinated. This morning I woke up to see that he ate his food from yesterday he was some what chipper & than hr simmered down and went back to being slumped. I gave home 2ml of karo syrup which had him up and running for a little. I tried to feed him directly after which he would not eat and still hasn't eaten any of his dog food. For the day he's eat about 3 pieces of ham. And a bit of water. I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning I just wanted to know if any of you guys went through this wig your puppy. I'm a new owner and would appreciate some advice. I'm Very scared about what to except from the vet tomorrow. I just my London is ok |

| First, you should never feed ham to a puppy. Did you get him from a breeder or pet store? He is very young. How much does he weigh? He should be eating a proper and good quality dog food. Stay away from human food. He needs to be vet checked and I see you have an appt tomorrow. That is good. You can buy nutrical to keep your puppy's blood sugar from dropping too low. Have you checked his gums to see if they are nice and pink?

| Oh, dear. Did he come from a pet store? Pet store puppies come from puppy mills and often arrive sick. I am glad you are taking him to your vet tomorrow. FYI, you should never feed him ham, sausage, bologna, bacon, etc. The fat can trigger pancreatitis which is a potentially life threatening gastroenteritis. Yorkies are prone to it. |

| never feed any deli meat; it's very high in salt and fat and chemicals. to get him to eat you can try feeding boiled chicken and rice with no seasoning. what food are you feeding. maybe you can switch to a high quality wet food since he's only 10 weeks; wet food is easier to digest and more appealing to dogs. good luck.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Im sorry that your baby is sick. But alot of puppy's from pet stores come from puppy mills and alot of them like another member said come sick. Its good that you have an appointment with a vet, he needs vet care asap. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope your vet was able to check out your new baby and get him healthy. If he came from a pet store you will want to make sure he is eating a quality food, but no people food.

| I'm so sorry to hear about your baby! I hope the vet gives the little love all the care required. My thoughts to a speedy recovery. As other members have said, pet store pups usually aren't the healthiest as they are often supplied by puppy mills. I hope it isn't anything serious. I agree with the wet food suggestion (from the reading I've done here they like wet food a lot, I don't know first had because my baby doesn't come home until November) and the nutrical to keep the blood sugar up. Please keep us posted! |
