| need advice...tounge/jaw /mouth problems My yorkie was playing with my mom the other day...she was given him this wooden toy..and then she took it away and he just started bitting her hands..when he suddenly stopped and started twirling his tounge around..it seemed as if he had something in his mouth..but what i noticed more was that he kept moving his tounge alot. Later on he ate his food...but then when tried to give me a kiss...he didn't stick his tounge out all the way...it seemed like he couldn't. When he tried to drink water....he also didn't stick his tounge out normally. I took him to the vet....he looked in his mouth...and my doggie actually was panting so it seemed like he was using his tounge normally..and the vet said...he could bitten his tounge...and to just give him some time to heal on it's own. Now, he doesn't seem to be twirling his tounge..but I can notice that when he is about to lay down...he holds his head up and slowing lays it down....and even when he goes up the stairs..he is very careful and I notice he holds his head up gently. I tried feeding him...today and he doesn't want to eat..and when I put a piece of his food in his mouth he just holds it there and then spits it out. He also tried to drink water and took 2 sips and stopped. I don't know what he could have.....i don't know if it's his tounge, his jaw....and I don't understand how he was playing with my mom and all of a sudden he's going thru this..... ...has anyone experienced something similar or can someone give me feedback.....i don't know what to do ..? |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | My only guess would be a splinter as well...I would have your vet check his tongue again if he won't then try another vet...I hope your little one gets better soon!!

| New problem arrises..regarding RABIES VACCINE it turns out my yorkie was having trouble going up stairs and laying...and problem not wanting to eat...because of the rabies shot he got. I suddenly noticed some swelling in the area where he was vaccinated, the same day i had taken him to get his mouth checked. Now I will take him to the vet...because he is surely in pain and they need to help him out, I have a feeling they did not administer the shot correctly. |

| Great, nothing big. His swelling should heal in 3-5 days. |

| Puppy shots can react , just like your childrens shots do. Just think about it. You would give the child tylenol and put compresses on it, don't give the puppy tylenol. But it is the same as with the baby shots. He just needed his MaMa to comfort him.

| Yorkie has SEVERE pain in Mouth!!! (developed overnight) My girlfriends yorkie is usually hyper and barks alot. He also loves to play. HOWEVER, we went to bed 2 nights ago, and awoke to him crying under the bed like he was in severe pain. She took him to the vet and they pryed his mouth open despite his extreme whining. They said they didnt see anything wrong. Today, i noticed he keeps licking his chops alot, and also seems like he kinda hides under anything he possibly can. He will eat, but he then will cry, and stop. Ive also noticed he hasnt done anything other than sleep alot... What could be wrong? |

Maybe he has a loose tooth or a cracked one. Did the vet look at his teeth? Hope you can figure it out.
