| Gastroenteritis and Urinary Tract Infection w Crystals Today around noon, out of no where, Bella was laying down and just started pooping. Then my boyfriends mom was holding her and she started pooping again while in her arms. (normal poop at this point) Bella NEVER goes the bathroom in the house so I knew something was wrong. She was very lethargic and could hardly hold herself up. We took her outside and she was pooping again, but this time we had to hold her up since she couldn't hold herself up and she had diarrhea. She was sooo sad just laying there and we immediately went to the ER vet. On our way there she started panting and her tongue turned pale. She was completely limp. The vet put her on fluids, which started around 1:30 pm. Since then she vomited once and had diarrhea again. There was blood in her diarrhea. The vet said they tested her urine and she had a urinary tract infection w struvite crystals. He gave her medicine for the urinary tract infection and an anti-diarrheal (as well as the continued fluids through the iv). He said he thinks she has gastroenteritis. He said it looked like she ate something red. To be honest we have no idea what caused this. I have racked my brian thinking of everything and anything she could have gotten into, but I just can't figure it out. I don't think she ate any plants or flowers outside. She was eating some of the food my boyfriends family gives their larger dogs (I think that is kibbles n bits- which does have some red pieces in it) about a half hour before this happened, but she always eats the big dog food when we are over at their house. Pleeease keep Bella in your prayers! She is still at the vet. He originally wanted to keep her on fluids for 6 hours and then he said he wanted to keep her on them an additional 2 hours (so 8 hours total so far). I am worried since I do not know what caused this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! We appreciate everyone keeping us in your prayers. Thanks in advance!

| Thank you both so much! They told me I could pick her up last night around 9pm. So I did, and she seemed very excited to see me and like she felt much better. However, within 10 minutes of us leaving the ER she was crying in pain so we pulled over and she had diarrhea again w blood in it. The poor little thing was in so much pain. Long story short, we were getting up all night. She would wake me up to go out and if she had to throw up. She had diarrhea w blood in it 6 times from 9pm last night till this morning around 7am and she threw up 3 times. I just dropped her off at my regular vet and she is on fluids there and they are going to keep her all day to watch her and do some tests. I am happy she is there bc they are great! Thanks for all your prayers! I hope they figure out what is wrong with her soon so she can get better and come home to me!

| hope she's better; diarrhea with blood could be many things; of which one could be inflammation such as colitis (IBD); she was in pain so that suggest some type of inflammation. you mentioned you took her to the ER what tests did they do and what were the results. I hope she gets better soon; good luck

| I just talked to the vet. He said she had a mild case of pancreatitis and that in addition to that her liver enzymes are elevated. He keeps asking me what she may have eaten but I really do not know. I have made a list of everything that is possible she ate over the last few days and I am going to call him back and give that to him. I feel soo bad for my little baby! I hope this is nothing too serious with her pancreas and her liver. She is on fluids now and he said he gave her something for the pain associated with the pancreatitis. I am supposed to call him back and 5 so he can give me an update. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you all sooo much for your prayers. Please keep them coming!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am sorry Bella is still not feeling better. WHen Cali had HGE she had the same symptoms and the er vet didn't catch it. 2 days later when I took her to my regular vet they did a PCV or PVC test and it came back in the level that would indicate HGE. She went to the vet each day for IV fluids and meds and I took her home at night. It took 3-4 days of this to get her back to normal. Praying Bella is better soon.

| Thanks to everyone for your warm wishes and comments! I am not sure the name of the exact test he did. It was some kind of blood work that shows the enzyme levels of her liver and pancreas. Bella is doing much better today. The last few days have been very stressful and busy. On Monday she spent the whole day at the vet on an iv with fluids. Then he sent her home w me at night. I fed her baby oatmeal and baby food (chicken and turkey) she ate it right up which was nice. However, she did still seem very lethargic and not herself. Tues. morning we went back to the vet and he did more blood work. He said her liver and pancreas enzymes were better but not where he would like them, so he kept her all day on the iv with fluids again. Then last night I picked her up and took her home. He said to bring her back in on Friday morning and he will do more blood work to check on her. He gave me this wet food called EN , which she ate a little bit of. She likes it better if I mix it with the chicken baby food, haha, so thats what I do to get her to eat it. She didn't vomit or have diarrhea since she left the vet yesterday so I am happy about that. She did poop once last night. It was pretty normal, it sort of had a chocolate pudding look (lol sorry for the description) but it was more hard than not. She is much more herself (both today and last night). She gets excited when she sees people, and she barks if she hears something. She is still more lethargic than usual, but I think she is getting better. She slept 12 hours straight last night, and she is sleeping again now. She has no interest in drinking any water, so I try and give her a little through the syringe. Well...that is all the updates for now. Thanks again to everyone!!!! YorkieTalk is really the best!!!!!!!

| Glad to hear Bella's beginning to feel better... I'll keep her in my prayers... Did your check the yard for anything unusual? Mushrooms can be toxic and can pop up overnight...

| There were no mushrooms that I saw but thats a good point- I will check again- She usually doesn't eat anything in the yard - but if it was a food item like a mushroom maybe she would have- we went back to the vet today and did more blood work that we will get back Tues. I hope everything comes back good! I just want my poor little girl to get back to normal. Thanks everyone again!!!!
