| Don't let her jump and keep her splint clean and dry. |

| You may have to secure a plastic bag over the splint in wet or rainy conditions if she goes outside to potty, to keep the splint dry.

| Broke foot Thank you! I'm doing both of those things. I also have her on cage rest these first few days. I'm having a hard time figuring out what she wants and I don't want her to slip on the tile floors if I'm not around. I sure wish that splint didn't go all the way up to her shoulder! I'm going to put her baggie on her leg and take her out to her favorite poo spot! |

| Maybe add a few area rugs and runners on her favorite 'trails' through the house would help keep her from slipping... or confine her to one or two rooms when you're not there...

| You can actually purchase anti skid tread tape, which is generally sold at hardware stores (lowes, home depot). You can cut small pieces and just stick them to the bottom of whatever you have covering her paw. Check the tape though, because if it's too rough it can scratch floors, but that's usually only when she's running or playing hard.

| Broken foot Thanks, everybody! Really good suggestions. I'm keeping her in her kennel a lot, but being 8 years old, she's ok with that so far. Since our grass is usually wet in the mornings, I put a baggie on her splint. But my hubby had a great suggestion-he's going to pick up some condoms tomorrow to put on the splint when we go out. It will be less bulky and really keep it dry. Putting on the baggie with a rubber band is a pain, too. I had a long talk with Latte and told her that she's going to have to let me know when she wants to go potty or get a drink. We're pretty simpatico!! |

Let me know how the condoms work. I often get fosters who need surgery and that would be good to know!

| broken foot I sure will! Hubby says they used to use condoms over the barrels of their guns in the Army to keep them dry. The shape of the splint looks like a pretty perfect fit...as far as I know! |

Well, I have to tell you that my son laughed at me when he was here one day.....I said it looked like a used condom and he asked me how I knew...and made some kind of comment about the size of it. OK..now....next case...

| Did anticipate this snag! Ok, hubby went to store-all the condoms were lubricated-definitely not what we want-it's supposed to stay dry. My friend says they sell them at the 99¢ store...ok....probably no frills jobs, right? How much can you expect for 99¢?? I'll update tomorrow. Who knew? |
