| 10-15 Q-tips in a 5 lb yorkie My little girl got into a box of q-tips first thing this morning. She puked most of them up and then when I took her out, she tried to "pass" them and after the initial "push" a small amount of paper and debris came out then dark red blood. She's still active, eating, playing, barking, drinking....but my fear is that she has one "stuck" somewhere. The last time she did this the vet said "Just gonna have to wait it out," but she didn't bleed. I mean, her little butt had a drop of blood coming out of it. =( My question is, can I give her something, like a drop of something to help dissolve and release this stuff inside of her? |

| My only suggestion is to take her into the vet. Those q-tip ends can be sharp, and with blood in her stool, it may have torn something inside on the way out. Since this isn't the first time this has happened, have you thought about puppy-proofing your home, or keeping your little girl out of specific rooms?

| I agree, if it were mine I would be at the vet asap. Whether the q-tips are the plastic rod or the cardboard ones they can puncture something. Blood is not a good sign at any time. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I agree with what others have said, most especially if this is "dark" blood. Please keep us posted and let us know she is okay, if you can .

| ANyone else find it odd that she ate them, puke and THEN pooped them out right away? I'm not expert but doesn't it take time for something to move through the whole body? Maybe shes been getting into other things too?? I'd definitely bring her in! |

She could be trying to pass other things. Based on OP's post, not sure if she was immediately taken out, but she did mention "debris". They can get into all sorts of stuff. Addie and Mia once got into some crayons at MIL's house and had "party-colored" poop for a couple of days. Luckily, no sharp pieces and they passed okay. This is also why our home is puppy-proofed. I hope she's taken to the vet and that's why we don't have any updates yet.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | That's what is making me think that there may be an obstruction or perforation. The body reacts violently when something is blocking the intestinal tract and it increases the force and rate of the contractions to try and remove it. Blood is also very irritating to the GI tract and causes diarrhea.

| Oh, please, take her to the vet asap. Qtips are large and if lodged sideways, aren't going to pass. They could easily have perforated an intestine. |
