| Tucker had his scope done today Tucker went in for his scope of his esophagus, stomach and intestines today and not such good results. He has a extraluminal mass on his esophagus, gastric erosions in his stomach and proliferative tissues in his duodenum. They said the results from the cytology does indicate that there was spiral shaped bacteria present in the stomach in which it could be a bacteria associated with ulcers and some inflamation cells were present but we wont know anything for sure until the histopathology results are back and with the holiday weekend that probably wont be until Tuesday or Wednesday. So they sent us home with a couple of meds to get rid of the acid in his stomach and sucraflate to coat his stomach. They also gave us some canned food for him to eat. Yeah right like he is going to eat that for me when I am having a hard time getting to eat anyway. We will try and do the best we can. Prayers that we will get good news back next week and this is something that we can get taken care of. He is not very happy with me trying to get him to take those pills, he hates me messing with his mouth. It is going to be a long week, my dh just left for his yearly fishing trip this morning too. I pray things will go well this week. Last edited by janetvav; 07-02-2010 at 06:56 PM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope you get good news next week. If you have trouble getting pills in him, maybe your vet can give you a liquid form of the medicine.

| I'm so sorry, at least you are getting some answers now! Poor baby. Did you try scrambled eggs? My dogs could never resist that.

| Well, hopefully the meds will make his tummy feel good enough that maybe he'll feel more like eating something. Praying for good results. I use chicken baby food to get pills into my pups. Don't know if that would help you or not. Hope you have a good week.

| Tucker is not feeling so well this morning, kind of mouning and laying around and I am having a terrible time trying to get him to take meds. I guess when he wont eat I can't put them in anything. I hope that yesterdays test didn't make him worse with the anthesia and the biopsies. I still have a gut feeling that this is something to do with his liver but the vet says no because his ammonia levels would be elevated if that was the case. I think that I just have a black cloud over my head. It was exactly 1 year ago this holiday weekend that my little Tobie was so deathly ill and now again. I don't think I can take much more of this. I am such an animal lover and try to do the best that I can why does this keep happening to me? My daughter said that maybe it is just the breed of dog that I am having bad luck with. Oh no I still have another yorkie and hopefully she will be healthy. I guess I will take this one day at a time and hopefully I will get him to eat something today but he is very mad at me now. |

| You are so right to take things one day at a time. Tucker may just be groggy and everything from the tests and anesthesia yesterday. Did he like the canned food from the Vet? My Westie actually ended up liking the canned food that he got when he had gastroenteritis. I thought he would hate it but he loved it! Praying your Tucker will eat and feel better today. My vet tested Lucy's blood ammonia levels too - he said that was to see if she had hepatitic encepholaphy? Something like that - though I sure can't spell it. She still has liver issues but not the (whatever I just spelled above). Anyway, hoping you have a better day today. |
