| Coughing pup? I took my 3 month old pup to the vet to recieve her vaccanations the vet refused because when he pinched her throat. My question is this should i get a second opion he described the cough as possibly being from her dry food or larangytis. Has anyone else ever experinced any thing like this should i be worried . |

| Yes - ours developed coughs about a week after we got them home. It took almost FOUR months for them to get over their coughs! Our vet believes they caught something similar, but not the same as, kennel cough from the dog that lived across the street. We were in and out of the vet's office lots of times for checkups and treatment for it. The vet prescribed antibiotics and cough suppressants (off and on over the four months) for them until they got over it. Each time we went in, he would pinch their throats (like you're describing) to get them to produce a cough for him. He would also listen to their lungs to make sure they weren't getting pneumonia or something more serious than just a cough (they never did). He didn't give them their regular shots when they were on the other medications. Usually we'd get through a round of cough medication and then he would catch them up on their shots. He also said we could use Children's Benadryl for cough suppression, and we occasionally did that. It took a long time, but they did get over it eventually - good luck with yours.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | This is good to hear! I have had Cali for 9 weeks and she has had a cough for that long. She has been on 3 series of Calfalex antibiotic and a new one that she started Monday. She has had all of her shots through this. I also have a 8 year old pom who was coughing and they put her on meds Monday as well. The pom is better but Cali's cough is worse. It used to be only in the am and night time now its about 6-7 times a day. I was wondering if it is too cold in my bedroom at night. It is about 70 degrees and she is in a playpen with a nice dog bed and three fleece blankets? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

| I've never experienced the kennel cough but harley did have larangytis and we treated it w/ some antibiotics. (pill form) And he got better within a week I think. If I even touched his throat he would start coughing and gagging. Hope your baby gets better soon! I would def get a second opinion. Always be safe rather than sorry!
