| Round 4 of vomiting & diarrhea Any advice is appreciated....Lea is on round 4 with this sickness and I'm so worried about her. We went to see our new vet with these symptoms and were sent sent home with nothing. Then we went to the ER for fluids and received meds to settle her tummy and she had blood work which came back fine. She is drinking and eating and has a cool wet nose but the end result is vomit and very loose mucus poops. Lea is 4.3 lbs and 2 years old. I'm making an appointment for another check up but was hoping to get some feedback so I can better prepare for our vet visit. Could this be an allergy to food, treats, environment? She has been eating wellness brand since she was 6 months, and I give her organic veggies for snacks which she loves, however, when she has stomach issues-no veggies. I started her on boiled chicken and rice which helps but I need to find the cause. Any advice is appreciated~

| Just reading the title Pancreatitis came to mind. See a Specialist. Our Yorkie has been fine ever since we put her on Iams Low Residue. She gets Low Residue Treats, nothing from the table, but when we were gicing the big dog rice, we gave her some of that and she loves it. Hope you find out the cause. Dehyfration for them is not good. |

| sounds like possible inflammatory bowel disease. NO CHICKEN. Ibd dogs many times cannot have chicken diets. Was the wellness food chicken? I would try natural balance venison and sweet potato and see if that works. You may need to do wet or soak kibble until her intestines are calmed down IBD does not show up on blood work usually. The only thing that could possibly show up is high amylase and lipase but not always the case. Dogs can eat a diet for years and develop an intolerance for it. If you cannot get vomitting and diarrhea under control with diet alone you can ask vet about tylosin (tylan powder) it is a mild antibiotic with anti-inflammatory agent in it. I personally would try a probiotic before doing an antibiotic and add just enough pumpkin to get the probiotic mixed in unless you can get her to lick the probiotic straight off plate I use dds plus from vitamin shoppe and works great for us and i mix a little organic pumpkin from whole foods as it will firm up poops. |
