| Swelling/Allergic Reactions to Vaccines? Around midnight on Thursday/Friday am I found a HUGE egg shaped lump on Emma's neck. We took her to the ER vet an hour away immediately because i didn't know if it was an allergic reaction or what and I wasn't taking chances. I forgot that she'd had her vaccinations (parvo, distemper) a week earlier in that spot - so the emergency vet said that she could be reacting to it - like her antibodies were trying to fight off the vaccine. It's still extremely hard and swollen and hasn't reduced in size even though she's on antibiotics, anti inflammatories, and we're doing hot packs 4 times a day. Has this happened to anyone else's babies? We have a follow up w/our regular vet today, but I'm so worried it hasn't reduced in size. It doesn't appear to bother her at all and she has no pain when I touch it. It's just this huge lump. The ER vet also took a sample of it and looked at it under the scope - and said the chance that it is cancerous or anything of the sort is highly, highly unlikely. I just feel so bad for my poor girl and want this lump gone I'm scared to get vaccines now for the babies in general. |

| Sometimes they will get a lump from vacs and usually go away in a week or two. You should be putting ice on swelling not hot packs as cold contracts and hot expands. |

| Mine have gotten lumps from the rabies shot, but they are not huge like you describe. If that lump is from the shot she got, I'd sure be concerned about another shot. Hope some have answers for you! Get well wishes to Emma!

| Cooper got a huge lump from his rabies shot and it took about two weeks to go away. He also got a lump from a tick that took about 4 or 5 days to go away. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I too would be concerned about future vaccines. What is her age? If this is her 1yr puppy boosters, or past that - you have options/opinions to consider here. Has she ever had rabies?

| Louis got a lump (a little bigger than a pea) when he got his rabies shot. I got scared and called the vet and she said that it should go away in about a week. It did go away in a few days and it was very sore.
