Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Could this be related to teething? Rhett is losing his puppy teeth at an astonishing rate- 5 in the past 2 days. He's also developed loose stools in the same time period. Could the two be related? Other than the loose stools, he seems fine. He's playful and eating well. He just looks so darn cute with the gaps in his mouth. |

| I wouldn't think it's related. I think springtime with thawing out and lots of rain contribute more to diarrhea than anything, brings the bugs out. (Love to see a photo) Try a tsp plain canned pumpkin...

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Ok, I finally found the canned pumpkin (that was an adventure in and of it's self). How much should I give him and how often? ETA- Oops, just saw the part about a tsp. But how often? Each meal? Every few hours? TIA. Last edited by Rhetts_mama; 06-01-2010 at 12:12 PM. |

| Each meal and as a snack. It will stop diarrhea and constipation. You can dump it into an ice cube tray, freeze it, then bag the cubes in the freezer for later use. Only keeps for 3 days in the fridge.

| Rhetts Mama, I can't believe you asked this question - I was going to ask the same thing! Rocco lost 3 teeth this weekend (molars) and his stools are looser than usual (not diarrhea at all, just soft) so I too was wondering if it's related. He hasn't been eating as much as usual (can't chew!) and I also caught my husband letting him lick a popsicle ! This is my 'I don't like small dogs and never will (NOT!)' husband who was feeling so bad for his little baby boy I didn't have the heart to scold him. Just told him to give him plain ice for his sore 'toofies', no more popsicles.

| Just thought maybe related if it's causing them to eat less. Maybe soak their kibble till it's really soft, and might help to hand feed to be sure they're eating enough, as kibble would cause firmer poops. Be sure they're drinking enough water too. Adding water to the food will help this, also. Watch those Bad Daddies! Mine fed Peek cheese everyday, increasing amounts till he ended up with Pancreatitis!

I know what you mean by big bad daddies. Rhett comes running every time my dh opens a bag of doritos... I've had to have a little talk with him about not sharing the people food. | |
