| Caring for a Splint So we are on day 2 with seeker in his splint. its tape around it, like on top of the splint. he is running around already! i try to limit this though but, he is a puppy, its what he wants to do. so the vet said i go back in 2 weeks to get it rerapped but said it MUST stay try and clean. so i covered it with a sock....is this good enough? what did you do to care for your splint? was it just a tape covered splint? how long did your pup need it? can i see your littles injury? thanks |

| We had a poodle who broke her leg a few days after we got her... she had a little cast/splint on... we covered it with a plastic bag when we went outside so it didnt get wet. We let her basically do anything she wanted, she was a puppy and wanted to play... it was funny because she learned to run so good that after it was off she would still run with her leg back sometimes. Here she is playing with it on: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...Lover/toys.jpg Trying to get her big sissy down from the couch (you can see a little bit of the cast): http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...over/iwant.jpg

| I sympathize with you. I got Moses on Friday night and he broke his leg Sunday morning. He was in a "cast" for 2 months. Doc recommended getting the Glad wrap that is self sticky and wrapping that around the cast when he went outside. I also wrapped it real well when I had to bathe him (after a month, he HAD to have a bath). Hopefully your little guy just has a mild break and you won't have to keep in a cast as long as poor Mosey had to be. But he did like you said, he would run like crazy, sometimes holding up his leg and sometimes using it. |
