| Hello from a New Member Hi, I am Faith-Hope and I'm new here. I have a little Yorkie called Toby, he weighs 4lb and is 9 years old. Today is Sat. 8th May 2010 and on Tuesday morning Toby is booked in to have an operation to try and fix his perineal hernia. This will be complicated and in fact he is having two ops under the same anesthetic to try and sort it out. Toby has a partially collapsed trachea so this will increase the danger. I am dreading the whole thing but at the moment Toby can't poo without me putting his hernia 'in' and this has been going on since last November, and is getting harder and harder for me to do, and very uncomfortable and sometimes painful for him. Has anyone's Yorkie had a hernia op? I'd be glad to have any info. I just hope my little baby boy pulls through, Best wishes, Faith-Hope (Surrey, England) |

| I personally don't have any experience with a pup with hernia surgery. What I can tell you is that hernia's can become strangulated and if he is not able to poop without you pushing in the hernia he needs to have the surgery. The CT is a concern with any surgery but really is there any other choice to repair the hernia? I'm sorry that I cannot be any more help. Hopefully you will get a better answer from someone who is experienced with CT during surgery. Welcome to YT~

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome! I hope the surgery goes well. My pom had an anal hernia but it never got bad enough to require surgery. My vet referred me to a specialist to confirm the diagnosis and she said the surgery had a very high success rate if Maya ever needed it.

| Camden just had surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia the middle of April. She did great! We had to keep her from jumping & running for two weeks since she had 7 staples. She also had couple deep fatty tumors removed & a dental cleaning done at that time. She was wonderful about it! We made sure to do all the blood work ahead of time and she was fine and recovered nicely! I will keep Toby in my prayers! Please let us know how he does!!
