| UTI-- DonSymptoms I am concerned my 7 month old puppy has a UTI. I am having a hard time finding symptoms anywhere. She is peeing more often and is having accidents inside the house. She was also spayed about a week and a half ago. Any advice would be helpful. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah I agree with dwerten, by the way, a UTI is so common after spaying, I don't know what the percentage is, but after reading about it so much here, I think the vet should always tell owners to be on the look-out for symptoms after a spaying.

| Ruby was just spayed 2 weeks ago and had UTI then. They noticed when they emptied her bladder for surgery that there was an odor, so they did urinalysis. They sent her urine for culture last week, and preliminary results today show e-coli. I didn't notice symptoms as she still has quite a few accidents and I never detected odor. So, don't know if the e-coli has any connection with spay and UTI. Better to have your puppy checked out early.

| Always better to have it checked out, don't want her to be in pain later. |

| Ya I did not know this and Pixie got her UTI after the spay.I was unaware of what to look for. I just knew something was wrong.......thank God I did!! She was peeing everywhere and shivering. I even called the Vets and they said sometimes that is normal after a surgery. I said I want her seen anyway.

| Hope your baby is feeling better soon! Teddy has some urinary issues and we were told to give him some cranberry juice along with his meds to flush out his bladder. I bought him that "no sugar added" pure cranberry juice but low and behold, our little Teddy Bumpkins prefers ocean spray. The vet said she does not care what kind it is, as long as he drinks it. It really does help too!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | The pom puppy I fostered in December was spayed and within a week started peeing every 10 minutes. I took a sample to the shelter and they tested her and started her on meds immediately. She was much better within 24 hours of the medicine. Glad seh is going to the vet.
