YT Addict | Kidneys shutting down To all reading this, Please say a prayer for my beautiful little Gizmo. We just found out that his kidneys are failing. The vet says his is not in any pain and that it will take him eventually but if he responds well to this round of treatment we may be able to keep him a bit longer. OMG...I have no idea what I am going to do or why I am writing this at all...seems pointless really...We are devastated....he is the most loving, knid, funny, gentle soul I have ever known...what do you do without your best friend?.... |

| How difficult this must be for you. I am so sorry Gizmo is failing but if he's not in any pain this is a plus. Somehow we all get through it, so you can also. Remember people here care and you will get all the comfort and hugs you need to help you when the time comes. Cherish your time together because it's priceless as you know. Remember also the years of love the two of you shared. Some never know what it is to be loved or to love a pet. We are the lucky ones. Hugs, |

YT Addict | Thank you Carol...I'm not sure how my husband found this forum but I am grateful he did. Actually I think we were looking for answers to Gizzy's degenerative disc thingy. Meds were complicated with his irritable bowel syndrome. All of this makes it sound as though he is a feeble yorkie which is not the case. He has always been a fighter and as my vet reminded me today, has fought back through many illnesses to stay with me as long as he has. He was fine and playing just days ago and this came on from the Temiral-P I think. He had kidney problems before with other steroidal meds for the degenerative disc disease. If he pulls through this we will have to find other treatments for the disc problem. Strange how something like the internet can bring people together and give some comfort even if it is while I am typing this...there is a chasm in my heart aching for Gizmo to rally once more so he can live with me until he can go peacefully in his sleep lying next to me some night. Preferrably later rather than sooner....They are amazing aren't they? Incredible little gifts from God, the Universe, Heaven, or whomever/whatever your beliefs may be...why is the time together so short....I have some regrets...things I did wrong...things he overcame...I pray he can just overcome once more and we can play & love just a bit longer.... |

| I lost my beloved Cody to renal failure this year. He came to me four years prior as an eight year old and he was in the beginning stages of renal failure then; so, what I hope to impart here is that you should not put a time limit on it. Do lots of reading about managing pups with renal problems and ask questions here on YT. If he responds to this treatment .... I am assuming fluids....he may have lots of time left if managed well. I will pray that your little Gizmo still has lots of quality time left with you.

| I hope this new treatment Gizzy's going to try helps. I'll say some prayers for him and hopefully it does or you'll find something that will help him out - if possible. On another note I was just wondering does anyone know if they have animal organ donors out there today...or if it's even possible? |

| I don't have any advice on meds or kidney issues, but wanted to say I will keep Gizmo in my prayers. It sounds like he is one little tough fighter and he has a good loving mommy too. I am Hoping Gizmo will get better soon.
