Yorkie Yakker | Cushings Disease I just took in a 9 year old female Yorkie that was diagnosed with Cushings Disease. I have two male yorkies (neutered of course) and absolutely love them! This little girl, Kia, is very sweet, and very sick. I think she has had cushings for quite some time as she has lost most of her hair and isn't too steady on her feet. We took her straight to our vet and will start medication as soon as the pharmacy can compound it, tomorrow they said, in the meantime......she doesn't want to drink or eat, I'm a little concerned, I've had her home for almost 6 hours now and she won't drink anything, should I use a dropper and get water in her? |

| Ooohhh, I'm so sorry. My old dog (a Cocker Spaniel) had that. He didn't want to eat anything...unless it was homemade. I'd make chicken and rice and hand feed him. Try making chicken or something for Kia. If you boil the chicken it will help to hydrate and get extra water in her too. Good Luck with the meds I hear they work wonders for most dogs. |

| With Cushings they have a tremendous thirst, so I don't know what to think about your girl not drinking. My foster has mild Cushings, no medication needed right now, and she drinks her share of water, but have noticed lately she has not been drinking very much. Maybe it's because of her excellent diet I have her on. Just leave her water down for her 24-7. I'm sure she's just upset right now. Give her another day.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear about your new girl. My pom had Cushing's for several years and she lost a lot of her hair and was thirsty and hungry. Hopefully once you get the medicine she will feel better and eat and drink. Cushing's is a hard disease to manage so it's best to have a specialist treating her if you can.
