| Very Concern !!! My one year old yorkie (12lbs) has a runny nose & some sneezing but this the first morning that he has done that. He also makes a sound, I wouldn't call it wheezing or coughing....almost like she can't catch her breathe, but it's not a dry sound, I'm not sure if this makes since but its sounds snotty. He got his bordetella shot in Jan.Is there something i can do to help him feel better?

| I have heard to take in the bathroom and run hot water to make room steamy. But it sounds like you need to take your baby to the vet it could be upper resp. infection or pneumonia. I would rather be safe than sorry.

| The fact that he has a nasal discharge makes me think you should take him to a vet. BUT.....take a look at the following thread to see if maybe this is a reverse sneeze: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...d-trachea.html

| sounds like kennel cough to me so i would get him in as that can lead to pneumonia as they can sneeze from kennel cough and they can get it from the vaccine and since he had the vaccine recently not sure of the incubation period but that would be my first guess so take him in and they will give you antibiotics if this is it do not wait on this as pneumonia is the next step if it is this and you do not want that just looked it up 2-14 days so what day was the bordatella given? has your dog been around other dogs as just because they have the vaccine does not mean they cannot get it as there are different strains now and sometimes the vaccine will cause the dog to get it check out the videos below as i provided a video for yt of kennel cough Last edited by dwerten; 02-27-2010 at 05:57 AM. |

| Infectious Tracheobronchitis (Kennel Cough) here is info on kennel cough - the runny nose and sneezing could be signs of both kennel cough or reverse sneeze does your dog have allergies? the videos for all three are below so maybe that will help you also take a video of it on your video camera and post and take into vet so he can see what is happening as they never do it in the office |

| I would simply go to the vet and have him checked. They can take his temp, look at his throat and listen to his lungs.

| Why not today? Besides, tomorrow is Sunday. Is your vet open on Sundays? If you feel something is wrong, I don't waiting another 24 hours is what you should do. Could be the difference between a slight URI and pneumonia.

| Sounds like kennel cough or upper respitory infection and if you wait till sunday to take him to the vet 24 hrs makes a big difference. Getting him on the right medication ASAP is important. They always get worse at night. I would take him today. I hope he feels better!
