| Is an inguinal hernia serious? I'm to get my new baby girl in a week .I was desperate to have a new baby my one year old baby slipped out and was hit by a car a week ago . I just couldn't imagine not getting another it gave our family something to look forward to. So I called the breeder where we got him from, crying and hoping to get another from his parents. She didn't have one from them but had 2 females was going to keep one . The one she is selling has an inguinal hernia. She told me it was easy to fix when I have her spayed. Has anyone's baby had this problem? |

| Yes, my girl had one too. She was spay at 7 mos, hernia repaired and 13 baby teeth were removed. She did wonderful the incision was longer than the normal spay, almost the entire length of her tiny belly, but she did just fine. She was 1 yr old on the 25th and had her 1st teeth cleaning....all was well. The hardest part was the worrying while she was under and away from me.

| Gypsy had one when I got her. Which is why I got her for 650.00. We were lucky her's healed itself before she was spayed. Not sure how it did it but it did.

| It is not that unusual for a inguinal hernia to close on it's own as the puppy gets older. How old is this pup? Unless it is a real big hernia most vets will wait and fix it when the female is spayed. |

| When I purchased Remy she had an inguinal hernia. My experience with this has been very bad and extremely expensive. To make a very long story short,LOL...Remy has had two surgeries in two years to try and repair this hernia both times the hernia has come back.I have taken her to a surgen specialist to have her assessed and we have decided to wait and see if the opening gets any larger,( right now its small and no intestines are popping out, just fatty tissue) if it stays small she should be able to live a long healthy life ,if it gets larger then she will have to go in for some extremely expensive surgery.
