| Post Neuter concern I got the boys neutered last week, the 23rd. Alphy had a retained testicle and had 2 sets of stitches on below and one above his penis. They said it was pretty invasive for him. They said to keep him covered with a onesie or belly band so he wouldn't lick the stitches. The first night he had an episode where he woke up fully engorged (not sure how else to explain it) air humping and .... well you get the idea. It was huge, it happened again the other day. My daugter called me in a panic, she had never seen anything like that LOL. He does this from time to time but being it was so soon after the surgery I was a little worried. first 2 days he was pretty sore and didn't want to lay or sit (kept him medicated). Now he seems fine with the exception that the lower part of his penis where the stitches are seem to still be swollen and a little red, almost like there's a little bulb inside just under the stitches, scar tissue? I called the vet's office and she suggested I use a warm compress on it a few times a day and if not better by Thursday to bring him in. Has anyone dealt with anything similiar? I am at like 80% of just taking him in tomorrow and not waiting until Thursday to see if the swelling goes down. But if someone else has dealt with it and thinks I should wait I will. Make sense?

| he's sleeping on his back with his belly up right now so I kinda ummm violated him a bit ROFL. It's not as read or swollen so maybe it's just because he's asleep and hasn't been moving around or trying to lick on it.

| odd Sam never had that happened and I probably would have panicked like your daughter. If its not as red now I do wonder if its bc he is not messing with it. I bet someone on here knows.

| We didn't have any problems with Hot Rod's neuter so I am no help. I hope you can get an answer. Check out my link to my collars. This may help him from aggravating the site.

| My male had a retained testicle so his neuter was similar. It is considered a lot more invasive when they have to go up and find the testicle. He had some redness and a bit of swelling (the hard bumpy thing, very similar to my females spay incision) for a couple weeks after the neuter, but it kept getting less and less, never worse. I used neosporin on his incision. If you suspect infection, then maybe bring him in. I didn't cover him with anything, I would be careful about that unless you can't watch him and keep him from licking. If you do cover him, use something that won't irritate the sutures.

| Same case as my Coco. Took him to the vet and turned out that its infected. I immediately put the ecollar on and placed him on antibiotic. The swelling is getting better. Is he licking on the incision?
