| Rash Help I noticed about 2 hours ago that my dog kept on licking his butt whole...I paid no attention to him... So he took a bath because he needed one.. So just now I noticed that he was licking it again...I checked it and I see like about 6 red spots...looks like a rash.. they are red bumps...kinda like pimple looking...what do you think it is...should i take him to the vet....and he is still licking it as i write this |

| It's most likely flea bites. Do you have him on flea preventative? If you don't, get him on a flea preventative like Frontline or K9 Advantix. If you already have him on one, you should change it to something else because the one you are using obviously isn't working well. Some brands work better for some dogs than others. |

| I hope you can find out what it is. I am wondering if it is flea bites...is it just his backside area that has the problem? I would think that if it is fleas, he would be having the problem all over. (?)

| i see you are in los angeles you can take him to animal dermatology dr gubash to check him out if you want as that is in marina del rey. I think the consultation is $160 but she knows all about skin issues as that is all she deals with |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Um, sorry to be so graphic...but it sounds like you are saying this rash...or "bumps" are directly on the anus, is that correct? If yes, that is such a sensitive area - so full of nerve endings and also prone to infection bc of the blood supply; I'd really recommend a vet see the irritation. If he is continuing to lick, there is something that needs to be diagnosed. Did you change foods...or change anything around the time these bumps appeared?

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | I was going to suggest possible food allergy (can cause a reaction going out, too). If you changed food, treats, or gave him something he doesn't normally have...
