Was it a seizure or something else? Jasper who 5 1/2, I am the third owner, and do not have any history on him, got him in June and had the vet check, everything went fine, only needed his teeth cleaned. Today however, he was napping in his bed, when he got up and ran to the other room, check out what was up with him, he seemed confused, held him as he was a bit shaky. Thought maybe he might have to go outside to go potty. He walk around a bit, then it was on coming in that his back end got wobbly like he had no control, front end was fine. This is the first time that this has been noticed. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the cause, or what is going on. I will be calling the vet in the morning, but want to get some input with the ones that know Yorkies best. Some type of a seizure? Any advice, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance Pamela

HMMM that does not sound like a seizure as a petit mal is when they fall on side and go stiff and grand mal is when they violently shake all over and then there is fly snapping seizures - go on youtube.com and type in dog seizures. This sounds like spinal to me if backend of dog was giving out - did your dog have a fall or something like that or maybe laid wrong in bed ? At 5 1/2 seizures that show up are usually epilepsy at age of appx 3 years so sounds like something else to me - are his legs giving out at backend ?

Seizure or something else Hi, No his back legs did not give out, it was more of a balance thing, like he was wobbly trying to sit. (I am trying to make out what happened as I was told this by my husband). Thank you Pamela

then he could have had a seizure while sleeping as they can have seizures while sleeping and then ran out scared and was wobbly after it so that is a possibility as they do get dazed after a seizure and wobbly and space out and sometimes eyes are blinky like they cannot focus
