| umbibical hernia My neice gave me her 5lb Shihtzu female however she would like me to breed her 1 time I noticed she has a umbilical hernia I told her she cant be breed I dont know why but I heard this does anyone have the answer for me to give her I want to get her spayed. |

| I think it depends on which type of hernia it is. Some are hereditary and can be passed on to the babies. I have read lots of different opinions on this. I'd probably say just spay her but first of all I'd have a vet look and give his opinion. GOOD LUCK |

| I'm not 100% certain. I know that usually vets will fix the hernia during a spay/neuter of the dog. Perhaps someone else may be able to answer this better. I'm surprised noone else has answered |
