| How can I not feed him for another 24hrs??? Help...my Yorkie is starving. The vet told me I had to not give him any solids for 36 hours. We have another 24 to go and Izzy is definitely feeling better and hungry. I'm scared he's not taking enough Pedialyte. He is just staring at me trying to figure out why I'm not feeding him. Scares me b/c I know he lost a lil weight from being sick. I'm afraid he'll just get worse?? But I am assuming the vet has a reason for giving him no solids for this long? I'm just frustrated...any advice or comfort would help. Just had to bury a friend on Sunday, after watching him suffer from cancer. So my baby being sick is adding more emotional stress...ugh... |

| Poor baby. That does seem a long time to go without food. You could call the vet and see if its absolutely necessary that the fast be for that long and if its okay to give him anything. I hope he is feeling better soon. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I never heard of fasting a little one for that long, I ask my son and he said that is wrong too.. he said is normal to hold food 24 hrs, after that some bland white rice with a piece of chicken breat boiled in plain water until cooked and mixed with the rice, and wait to see how the pup does, but never fasting a little one for that long... |

| thanks so much thank you everyone for being so kind with your input and advice. I am going to call the vet today and ask if maybe tonight I can start him back on boiled white rice with chicken. I am happy to say since I posted this, Izzy is back to his old self. He's got his little zip back in his trot and he has been taking the Pedialyte w no problems. That alone makes me feel better. Thank you for all the well wishes. I'm glad I found this site. |

| Glad your baby is doing better! I feel for you, because I had a really hard time withholding breakfast/water the day my little one was neutered. That was only one meal -- cannot imagine doing it for 36 hours! Best wishes to your baby. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Definitely call the vet this morning and ask if you can start feeding small meals now.

| It is your dog. Use your own judgement as to when and what to feed him. Maybe he has recuperated faster than the vet thought he would. If he were a child, what would you do? |

| I've never heard of fasting a dog for that long and I personaly don't think that's necessary or good for them. Give Nutri-Cal and get a second opinion and third opinion.
