Possible lymphoma I noticed today that my oldest yorkie of 14 yrs has swollewn lymph nodes in his throat. I looked up on line and found where others are located on the body and I found two more swollen. One on each of his back legs. I am worried because it sounds like he may very well have lymphoma (cancer). He is not eatting and has the runs and he just sleeps. A couple of times he seems to loose his balance and he is loosing weight. This is pretty sudden beacuse he seemed fine this past weekend. He was eatting and I always check weight and he felt fine. I read that it can be curable with chemo but I also heard it is very expensive and I have currently lsot one of 2 of my part time jobs that paid very good so I am not in a good finance situation. I am afraid I will have to make that dreaded decsion. I have an appointment tomorrow.

Unfortunely I was correct on my diagnosis. He did in fact have lymhpomia and it had spread throughout his body. He never had any signs up front but looking back and answering the vets questions I missed some of the less obvious signs. For instance he would cough a little after he ate, but he did not have any teeth so I thought he got some food caught because it never lasted long but apparently that was a sign. Anyway He was pretty bad and I had no choice but to lay him to rest.

Thank you! It was a hard but I spoke to the vet and she felt that the cancer had spread throughout the body and his prognosis was very poor. I was lucky to have 14 wonderful years with him.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Our little one has become the center of our universe and I can only imagine how you must've felt. (I had to let go of my rottie in November due to osteosarcoma in her spine) Our vet found some swelling in our little guy's throat and has begun treating him with high doses of antibiotics. He's only 2 1/2 but she did mention that there could be a possibility of "c" if we don't see positive results from the antibiotics. We're praying for the best. Again, my deepest condolences go out to you. Be well... J.

I hope it is just an infection. If not at least he is young and maybe able to be treated and beat it. I did hear it is a curable camcer if caught early. My prayers are with you. I am sorry for the loss of your Rottie. | |
