It was in my trash can in my room open which someone she got into. I do not know what to do, or what I should look for. I do not know how many raisins were in the stupid cookie. Please some advice is very much needed right now as I am trying not to completely panic.

| I would call an emergency vet and ask what they think. Raisins and grapes can be poisonous foods for dogs. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | was it just raisins or was there chocolate in it too? this is a tough call to make. i'd call animal poison control or an er center and ask them. keep an eye out for any vomiting and diarrhea. those are usually the first signs of poisoning. Also watch for lethargy, not eating, increased drinking, and abdominal pain. those would be a sign that an er trip might be in order. i'm not sure how many grapes she would have to eat to cause a problem. i do know that you can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide within 2 hours of the raisins being eaten. i'd probably call the above and ask if you should do that.

| the cookie has raisins and walnuts in it- no chocolate thank goodness. I called two ER vets- one said it was totally fine and not to worry, the other said to bring her in b/c they need to induce vomiting and give her charcoal. I want to induce vomiting but I am trying to figure out how much hydrogen peroxide to give her???

| I gave her 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with 2 teaspoons of cream. That what it said to do for a dog that was half her weight so i thought it would be safe. But she hasnt thrown up yet and it has been over 5 minutes...

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | you can give her a little more peroxide. i remember when my friend had to make her 4.5 pound Chi throw up we gave her at least 3 tsp to make sure she got everything up. she was a different situation tho

| The dose is 1 tsp. per 10 poinds. If it has been less than an hour, it should work. This is what I'd do for Ellie, but your vet may say differently. She should be fine, but the toxic grape dose isn't really even known, so I'd err on the side of caution. If the emergency vet thought that vomiting needed to be induced and charcoal given, I would at least induce. It would not hurt to take her. That is a very hard call. I'm sorry. I see it didn't work. You can redose.

| I gave her about 3/4 of a teaspoon- i hope thats not too much. If I hurt her by doing this I will feel worse then letting her get into the raisin cookie. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you so much!!!!!

She should have thrown up several times by now. At this point I'd seriously consider going to the vet.

I have read (don't know if it's true) that as few as seven grapes have hurt a medium sized dog. It would probably take more raisins than grapes, but there could have been 6-8 raisins in the cookie. That's a lot for a small dog. However, not all dogs get kidney damage from them. Ellie ate grapes and raisins before I knew better and was fine. If it were now, I'd listen to the vet. It's really your call.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | it may have been the cream that is inhibiting the peroxide from working. if you should ever have to do this again i'd just give straight peroxide. i'd call the vet again and ask them
