| Small cuts? is Neosporen ok? Scruffy had his testicle removed from his abdomen and his seutures (sp?) were almost healed and dissolved, when I noticed last night that it had started bleeding again and was irritated? It's been almost a month and I wanted to knwo what I should do? It hasn't opened up, but I'm afraid that because it did start bleeding it could get infected. Should I clean it with hydrogen peroxide? or just put on some neosporen (Scruffy won't lick it off). Thanks |

| Either one is ok to use. Is this the incision that is opening or is it just a tiny suture? Sometimes the sutures work their way out and they get irritated looking. If it is that it would be a tiny little round spot.

| It has been a month? Yes, Neosporin is okay, but he would have to wear an e-collar or something to cover teh area because it should not be licked.

| It is very common for sutures to come to the surface after some time!

I know Ellie's sutures underneath were there for quite some time, but bleeding after a month? No thank-you. I'm one of those whiny and panicky owners who would have been having a fit about it.

| It is probably not blood more like fluid from the area where the stitch is being rejected and pushed from the body. Is it an actual "cut" or a seperation of the skin in the area? Right now I have this same thing going on with a leftover stitch in MY wrist that my body has been trying to reject for several MONTHS! The area is raised and there is a tiny spot with a hole and slight discharge which can be a reddish ting color. If there is actual blood coming from the area then you need to contact the vet. If you look closely do you see a purple color thread peaking out anywhere in the area?

I just did not get the impression there was active bleeding going on. The word irritated said that to me...and the fact she talked about peroxide and neosporin. Now, if she had said it was opening and bleeding, I might have felt that way. Who knows...maybe I misread it. Have to wait for a response I suppose.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | After a month it should be healed. I would not put anything & would bring him to the vet or at least call He could have an infection. |

A month sounds way too long. Take him back to the vet, I would worry about infection at this point too.
