| bloddy diarreaha Hi, My 1 year old male was sick for a day and a half with diarreaha and vomiting. Yesterday he ate nothing at all. I got up to check on him at 4:30 and notice he had some bloddy diarreaha in the middle of the night. He does seem a little better though. He was hungry and did eat some chicken. I'm taking him to the vet today. Since he hasn't eaten since yesterday how much food should i give him. I'm afraid to give him too much at once. Also has anyone ever seen this before. I'm scared out of my mind. I haven't slept a wink. Very concerned |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope he is doing better. When one of mine has bloody stools it's off to the vets. The medicine clears it up quickly.

| Hopefully not HGE l took Charlie to the vets. The vet thinks he may have picked up a parasite while he was at the kennel. He didn't run any tests on him just told me if he isn't better in a few days to bring him back. Gave him antibiotics and an injection to settle his stomach and some pills for his diarreha. Hopefully this will take care of it. However, I was unaware of HGE disease and I'm glad I got informed. This is my first Yorkie and they are fragile little beings. I will be watching him closely. Thanks for your help. Last edited by irish1225; 08-26-2009 at 12:48 PM. |

| i went through the same thing with my little Suzi when she became ill with the same symtoms . I did take her to the vet, who placed her on two different types of medications after observing her for the rest of the day. He also ran a Parvo test to to be on the safe side, even though she had ALL of her vaccines. That came back negative. The blood in the stool , I thought was from irritation of the stomach lining and from the vomiting/diarrehea. She was not dehydrated , thankfully. However was lethargic. She came around after the meds , and was back to herself quickly.
