| I would call the vet. I suspect that it's OK, though. Maggots don't live in the intestinal tract, as far as I know. It's just gross. |

| I would call the vet. I have heard of maggots living inside of infected wounds so I dont know what they would do in the stomach. Its just better to check with a vet

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yum extra protein! When your baby eats something that you think might hurt him, it's important to call the vet immediately. I have the vet's number and the after hours emergency number in I convenient place, so that even if I'm panicking, which I tend to do, I can find them. If your baby eats a poisonous substance, treating in the first half hour can save his life so time is of the essence. I keep hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, and write his dosage amount on the bottle, and have a little plunger-like tool to administer it. I've had to use it twice with Joey, after calling the vet first, but he suffered no after effects from the substances after vomiting. Dogs can eat things that would make a human sick, and if he ate a whole cup of maggots, I'd be really sick, but one maggot I guess won't hurt him, and if he's doing fine a week later, you have nothing to worry about. You might be interested in this, it's called maggot cheese. Maggot Cheese

| thanks for all the support guys, i really appreciate it his doing very well actually its been good 3 - 4 hours now, and shows no sign of being in pain or anything like that, i called just about every single vet around my area within the 10 mile radius, they basicly told me, its not really serious, a few told me to give him 2tps of peroxide or just keep a good eye on him for the next 24 hours, if he starts vomiting or out of energy its good to bring him in, other than that they basicly told me just close watch on him, at the moment his doing really good and his running around like wild beast thanks again guys, i really appreciate all the help, i know its my first time posting, sorry it had to be this way, its a very good forum, very good community ill update you guys again tonight to on how Hero is doing - Hero Last edited by heroSTi; 08-11-2009 at 01:30 PM. |
