| Ear Cleaning Last night I noticed that Twix was scratching his left ear. I clean his ear whenever I give him a bath which is every 2 weeks. But yesterday I noticed that he was scratching his ear and when I cleaned it I noticed it was dirty again. I tried to clean it with warm water and a soft towel. He was fine with my cleaning his ears and it did not hurt him at all. But I am worried that it will get infected. Should I take him to the vet to have his ear cleaned and checked? This morning I cleaned his ear again and he was still scratching his ear. Is there an ear solution I clean it with? Am I doing something wrong? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | HI welcome to YT! You should purchase a dog ear cleaning solution from either your vet or the pet store to clean the ears with. You shouldn't use water because that can cause an infection. The water can travel down the ear canal and create a warm moist environment which in turn will create bacteria. An ear cleaning solution will clean the ear and dry out so it doesn't stay in the ear.

| My Miley got a real bad ear infec, and the vet said to put cotton in their ears when I give them a bath. I always use ear cleaner from the vet , but it was the water that got in , and she got a yeast infec. She is okay now I just make sure the cotton is in there and just removed after u finish. But u need to have him check out by the vet in case he has a yeast infec. And welcome to YT. bark@ulater manina, miley, max |

| Yes, get a cleaner/drying solution. He also needs to see the vet because it is most likely already infected.
