| lifting back paw prince is almost 9months old and weighs 5 pounds.. when he runs he lifts he back left paw but when he walks he uses it normally. I felt all around and he isnt in pain, i dont see anything in the paw pad. Everything feels normal. I dont know if i should take him for an xray. It has been about 3days and he still lifts it when running. The only thing I am concerned about is luxating patella because we have a highrise bed and he uses doggy stairs to get on the bed but he jumps off the bed. He wont use the stairs to get back down.. he has been jumping off the bed for a while now. For now I have blankets on the floor to soften his landing. I just wanted to see what you guys thought before taking him into the Vet |

| My Rita has LP with her back left leg. She appears almost normal when walking (she doesn't run much), but if she's been laying down a while, will lift the back left leg off the floor for 5 seconds or so, then slowly put her full weight on it. She doesn't cry out in pain when the vet checks it. She doesn't jump on or off any furniture, we pick her up and put her down.

| It sounds like you've covered all the bases ... it would be hard to add anything without seeing him. Time to let the Vet make the call ... unless he stepped in something wet??? Eliminating jumping can greatly improve this condition, or at least lessen the occurence. Mine will bark for me to come get him off the bed, or to be put up when he wants up. I'm lucky, he's not too demanding...

| well i took him to the vet a few hours ago and he confirmed that he does have LP in the back left leg im really sad.. but he said its not that bad and he wouldnt fix it for another 2-3yrs if it gets worse. Im trying to keep him off the bed but its hard because he sleeps with us and in the night he gets down to drink, eat, etc.. he said something about giving him some pills to help his joints but he thought prince is too young, so basically there is nothing we can do except monitor it and hope it doesnt get worse. |

| molly has knee problems an my vet use a lazer on her the other day an it has help her. it helps with the blood flow to the knee. an molly came home was running which she wasn`t doing that . if it gets that way again we can just do the lazer again. it keeps her from having surgery. it is something new they are doing. |

| Since Prince is 9 months old, I'm wondering if he's still under a 1 year warranty with your breeder? I would also check with your state to see if you have a Doggy Lemon Law statute, too. My son just went thru a similar situation with his puppy and the breeder offered to pay for Vet expenses or refund the purchase price with my son keeping the puppy. He ended up accepting the first offer as his puppy had a congenital disorder that will be lifelong so, it made more sense financially. Hugs!
