| Broke Tooth?! Doubt anyone has been following this, (I am also under elocin2007), but I recently moved into a house with a roommate who also has another yorkie a few lbs more than Ms. Peka. I have agree'd to keep Mr. Mac over the next few weeks off and on due my roommate being gone and there is no point in me not watching him. They play together and I enjoy the company of two dogs especially when the house is really quiet. Anyways, they were both play tug of war the other night with this 16" stuffed frog. Mac, being the bigger of the two, apparently pulled the frog very hard and quickly from Peka and BROKE her toothe. I noticed this because she all of a sudden walked away and started licking really quickly and rubbing her paw on her face. I checked her mouth and noticed that he toothe was sticking out sideways. Freaked me out of course and had her into the vets office 30 minutes later. She is still on anti-inflammatory medications/pain meds and we are going back for x-rays and root extraction, etc. However, my major problem now is I'm not sure what I can necessarily do to keep Mac from being so rough! I call his name, try to get his attention, try to keep him from getting to excited, etc and if I go towards him he kind of goes away from me like I'm going to hit him. Very sad because I never have and wont, nor do I to Peka, but I just try to get him away, or pick him up and set him next to me, or across from Peka. I dont mind them playing, its great, but he is just way too rough!! Mind you, he's not my dog so I am limited as to what I can do and dont want to tell my roommate how to train her dog. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!! |

| when pebbles gets alittle ruff around lucy, I try to get them interested in 2separate toys and/or play & chase them around the house, telling them I'm gonna get them . It helps get the focus soley off lucy.

| I know this may sound a bit silly but I saw this on "It's Me or the Dog". When Mac begins to get rough in his play just squeal really loud at him. Sort of the sound a mouse would make if you stepped on it or something. It really works. snow |

| Will Try! thanks guys. i really appreciate it. im think'n im going to have to separate the two. that lil man is so cute and precious but so hard headed!!! he is so full of energy. and i try to take him outside and just let him run our yard (its huge) but he finds things to sniff and wont get all his energy out. i try to chase the both of them around, but its frustrating to have to constantly keep eye on him thinking he's going to hurt her. im at the point where he is rarely allowed upstairs because i found marks on her stomach from where i belive he has bit or scratched her from playing so rough. he will come up to her and put his head under her stomach and pick her up with his head trying to knock her over/play with her, but doesn't seem very fun to me. He's not mine and so there is only so much I can do with him. Its like having kids, I cant dicipline someone else's kid! Poor peka just tries to run from him most of the time and hide from him or get on the bed, but he chases her everywhere. He's is a crazy lil man!! Im going to work on it. I would love for them to play together, but im scared for her and dont want her to become aggressive towards other dogs/humans because of how he is with her. But I will try suggestions. Thanks so much! Even though I'm sure I'll end up laughing at myself from trying to sound like an idiot, or lose my throat. Thanks everyone |
