| Excessive Urinating?? I have an appt to take my baby Lestat to the Vet this afternoon, Lestat is going to be 12 months in 2 days and his urinating habits has changed in the last month or so. before when i would take him out he would have one or 2 nice long pees. but lately when i take him out it seems more like 5 or 6 (sometimes more) little pees and as soon as he comes back inside within 30 minutes he is urinating around the house or asking me to go outside again. He has been known to pee in the house on occasion but it seems to be really excessive lately. i try not to get angry at him but sometimes it's so frustrating and I was raising my voice a bit. Anybody have any ideas? My hubby and i think he may have a urinary track problem.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Since it's a recent new behavior...I'd suspect something physical and not just "marking".

| It's probably a UTI or hopefully not stones. He is probably very uncomfortable and needs to see the vet immediately for a urinalysis.

| Yeah i also suspect that it may be a UTI, he has the vet appt this afternoon so hopefully they can fix him. it just seems to me like he can't get all his pee out all at once, it's kinda weird, I mean i know i have seen many dogs that will urinate several times when they are taken out but he seems to be doing it all day long if he is inside the house or out.

| OK, so I just got back from the vet and I am a little confused, they did a urine analysis and the only indicator they found was a high PH balance, can anyone tell me what this could possibly mean? The Vet said that his constant piddling can be one of 2 things, an infection of a change in behavior. He gave me antibiotics for an infection and he essentially told me that if the antibiotics don't work then it's probably a behavior issue. So his treatment is like a trial and error thing. If it is a behavior problem like marking his territory, what can I do to get him to stop, will getting him neutered help?

| Sounds like a UTI to me. Or perhaps some kind of obstruction. Either way I would have the vet check it out. Best of luck |

| Bailey has done it since he was a puppy. He's naturally hyper and anxious. He is 100% pee pad trained. He will potty and then two minutes later go again. I think it's because he doesn't empty himself out all the way. He has so many things going on in his little mind at once. Always worried about me or someone in the house leaving that he forgets and even misses the pad. I don't know how to fix it. I just deal with it. He's always been this way.

| Yeah I think Bailey does that too... Maybe because in the beginning I was so anal about always "emptying" him? I would constantly put him on the pad and tell him to do duties. So maybe now it's habit for him to empty himself when there is just a little bit in there.

| I have the same problem with our new little german shepard mix. As soon as he drinks, and he drinks a lot he pees all over. It's so frustating. He's really a good dog, but this makes me crazy. I took him to the vet, and he told me to limit his intake of water to once every two hours. It seems to have helped somewhat, but I feel bad making my others wait that long before getting a drink. I always thought you were suppose to leave water out for them all the time. Now I take it up for the night about 7 pm. That's stopped all his peeing throughout the night. I hope nothings wrong with your baby. Maybe try what I did, and see if it works.

| A high pH means that the urine is too alkaline (as opposed to acidic). It can indicate an infection or possibly stones.
